Railway Reserves Heritage Trail - Sawyers Valley to Mt Helena
Having walked a number of sections of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail we came back to explore this section which runs north/south and joins the southern Jane Brook line (Bellevue to Sawyers Valley) to the northern Mahogany Creek Deviation line (Bellevue to Mt Helena). The Railway Reserve Heritage Trail continues on from Mt Helena to Chidlow and Woorooloo but that is way too far for us today! This section of trail is about 3km in each direction and will take around 45 min

Mundaring (Minderinjy) Heritage, Art and Sculpture Trail
We had a little bit of spare time after hiking around the Mundaring area so decided to explore Mundaring's 2km Heritage Trail. We called in to the Information Centre and they supplied us with a photo copy of the trail map to follow. You can also access an interactive map online here. Railway Reserves Heritage Trail - Mt Helena to Parkerville via Stoneville
The section of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail between Mt Helena and Parkerville has three Fire Recovery Statues commemorating the 2014 Parkerville fire. These provide an added point of interest to what is already a lovely walk along the old Great Eastern Railway line which linked Fremantle to York until it ceased operation in 1966. From Mt Helena the trail continues 5.2km to Chidlow or you can side track 2.7km to Sawyer's Valley on the southern section. For today though

Railway Reserves Heritage Trail - Darlington to Boya
After walking the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail recently between Darlington and Glen Forrest we went back to explore the trail between Darlington and Boya. This section is only 2.1km each way so a round trip of just over 4 km which we completed in an hour. The trail is multi use so beware of cyclists. From Darlington it is downhill to Boya which means you are steadily climbing on the return. You can park at the old Darlington Railway Station which has long since disappear

Railway Reserves Heritage Trail - Darlington to Glen Forrest
The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail loops between Bellevue and Mt Helena with both a northern and southern trail. While previously we have walked the northern trail notably within John Forrest National Park and through the Swan View Tunnel we only recently discovered the southern trail exists and it is well worth a visit! We started at Darlington at Little Nook Cafe directly opposite the trail which is a great place for a drink and a meal either end of your walk. The pict

John Forrest National Park
John Forrest National Park was established in 1900 and has been a popular picnic and walking spot ever since. There are large picnic areas with lots of tables scattered around the main area near the car parks. There are plenty of barbecues available and there are bigger gazebos for large groups. There is a centrally located toilet block opposite the Ranger's office. There is also a tavern there. The picnic benches are in heavy demand from about 11am onwards - before th
