If you hate the crowds along the coast at North Beach but enjoy overlooking the ocean on your walks or rides the coastal path at Quinns Rocks is perfect.

A shared use path extends from Rosslare Park at Mindarie and continues northward beyond the Jindalee Beach Shack so there is plenty of opportunity for a longer walk or bike ride.

We started our walk from Frederick Stubbs Park where parking is available in the beach car park or roadside bays. Grab a coffee from Quinns Cafe before setting off north along the shared use path which runs parallel to the beach alongside Ocean Drive. There are intermittent views of the beach through the dunes but you can see the ocean almost the entire way except when passing through the smaller parks enroute. This section undulates with the dunes so you can get your heart rate up as you pass an eclectic collection of beachfront homes ranging from beach shacks to multi storied mansions.

Wander through Queenscliff Park and then continue north as the path diverts at Waterland Point. There is a car park located at the end of the street providing access to the beach. Beach access north of Quinns Dog Beach and at Jindalee Beach Shack is via steep staircases only so the beach is not universally accessible here.

You can continue to walk along the coast north of Jindalee Beach Shack but we chose to turn around. There is parking here as well as toilets and a small playground. It is possible to walk along the beach as an alternative to the coastal path however the sand strip can be quite narrow in places, depending on tides and you will traverse Quinns Dog Beach.

We chose a slightly different return walk (orange line on map below) heading inland along Queenscliff Parade to wander through Jack Barlow Park and James Cook Park where we found some playgrounds before heading west on Camira Way, coming across Camira Park playground which we had visited last winter.

At the end of Camira Way we joined the coastal path again heading south back to Frederick Stubbs Park for a play overlooking the ocean. Be sure to visit the toilet block in the car park to see the fabulous mosaic.

This was our starting point for this walk but you can also continue further south to Portofinos or even beyond to Rosslare Park in Mindarie.
