Walliabup - Bibra Lake Loop
Bibra Lake is one of many lakes that form the internationally significant Beeliar Wetlands which are incorporated into Beeliar Regional Park. The wetlands are culturally significant to the Whadjuk Nyungar people with North Lake and Bibra Lake holding particular cultural significance. The wetlands were part of a major trade route containing camping sites, ceremonial areas and providing a food source. The loop walk around Bibra Lake is 6.2km and follows a shared use concrete

East Fremantle Heritage and Art
Having walked several Heritage Trails around Fremantle we decided to follow the one in East Fremantle and explore some murals and public art along the way. Heritage trails are a great starting point to explore an area - sometimes the heritage can leave a little to be desired as buildings no longer exist but mostly we discover unexpected delights along the way and East Fremantle was no exception. East Fremantle also stands out as all the buildings on the Heritage Trail are st

Point Walter Sand Spit - Djoondalup
We've spent time at beautiful Point Walter on a number of occasions and always find something different to keep us busy. The first visit was on a magnificent Autumn Day to have a go at Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP). The cool water was an added incentive not to fall off! There are a few companies that hire SUP boards here but it is also an easy place to unload if you have your own. As beginners we were advised to paddle to the right of the jetty but discovered there was qu

Jenna Bidi Yorga - Blackwall Reach - Bicton Baths
Jenna Bidi Yorga means “women’s feet walking on the path” in Whadjuk Noongar. This trail traverses the ancient lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people from Djoondalup (the Point Walter Sand spit) along Jenalup "the place where the feet make a track" (Blackwall Reach) to Kwoppa Kepa "beautiful water" (Bicton Foreshore). It is a culturally significant trail which carries the Dreamtime story of Djunda the Charnock woman. Jenalup is traditionally a place for women and children to

Art and About in Perth
Perth really has so much to offer in the way of formal and informal street art and public art installations. My first exposure was walking through Subiaco on a Subi on Sunday guided walk which opened my eyes to what was on offer and sent me on a search for more. I have used Streets of Perth's interactive map and picture references to plan many walks. They provide a wonderful resource if you are hunting down urban art in Perth and we have used them to create and blog other u
