Yanchep National Park is always beautiful at any time of the year. In early winter there were still a few splashes of autumn colour to offset the greens leading down to the lake. This beautiful walk takes about 2 hours at a good pace and is just over 5km one way. The City of Wanneroo organises yearly guided walks for this section of the Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail led by local Noongar, Derek Nannup. The advantage of a guided tour is that after meeting at Wangi Mia in Yanchep National Park you are transported by mini bus to Lacey Road to start the trail. The Wetlands Walk Trail is a 2.6km loop trail around Loch McNess in Yanchep National Park. If you walk down the path from the McNess House Visitor's Centre to the lake you can turn right or left and follow the edge of the lake to find the trail.
