Leederville Urban Art Adventure
This is more of an adult walk but if you find yourself needing to entertain the kids in one of Perth's older suburbs challenge them to a game of spotto and see if they can notice the small detail in the public art works they come across. Leederville has a large amount of murals all easily accessible by walking along Oxford Street between William Traylen Park and Richmond Street for the majority of art with a few scattered further along Oxford Street towards Mt Hawthorn where

Curtin Uni - Murals, Sculptures, Gardens and so much more!
We have wandered around the University of WA in Crawley and the Edith Cowan University campus in Joondalup and enjoyed discovering public art works and other interesting things so when we saw a map for a campus treasures map for Curtin University we took that as a sign to go and explore. The thing with universities is that they are not set out in a grid so any exploration requires either a very good map or a great deal of luck. We set off to follow the treasures map but imme

Mt Lawley Urban Art
When urban art started to become a "thing" in Perth I did quite a bit of research about where the various artworks could be found. My mud map sat around for a while as I was busy exploring other trails around Perth but one day it just fitted into my plans for the day. Usually we walk early in the morning but this time we set off in the lat

Beautiful Bassendean with Earlsferry Sculptures
We started our walk at Point Reserve which was magnificent in the early morning light. Point Reserve lies across from where the Helena River intersects the Swan between Iho Park and Kings Meadow Reserve on the Guildford side. The riverfront properties here own the land all the way to the river so either side of the reserve is private property limiting access. It is a beautiful reserve to visit for a wander along the river's edge. The river is popular with kayakers and it is

Lake Jualbup - Walking Subiaco - Shenton Park
The green and shady areas of public open space found in Shenton Park include the tranquil waters of Lake Jualbup, part of the wetlands system of the western suburbs. Lake Jualbup ("a place where water rises in the season of spring") was an important wetland and a source of water and food for the Noongar people who lived in this area and moved with seasonal changes along the Swan River and Swan Coastal Plains. Lake Jualbup is also an Aboriginal burial area and is registered wi
