Kwinana Adventure Park - Calista

Updated: Jun 22

Kwinana Adventure Park is an award winning play space located in Calista and is absolutely worth the trip to visit. Built under large shady trees and with a large landscaped car park attached this playground is easy to access and so big you can easily spend a day here.

This all ages all abilities play space is designed to inspire imaginations and challenge expectations. The play space is made up of six main areas all contained within the double gated fences. Take the kids to this park and you are pretty well guaranteed that no-one will utter the words "I'm bored!"

TREE MAZE

The elevated Tree Maze weaves through the natural surroundings, incorporating physical and sensory play activities for all ages and abilities. The massive tree maze is located under and around the mature trees so is well shaded. The Tree Maze has a net tunnel, slides, clatter bridge, rocker bridge, climbing walls, cubby holes, balancing logs and rocks, shop fronts, monkey bars, pommel climbers, rope mazes, hammocks, tunnels, musical play and balancing leaves (Yes - WOW Right!). This play area is designed for older kids as it is so big you would lose your toddler in amongst it all - all the more excuse though to get in there and enjoy the fun with them. The tree maze is three dimensional with an under storey and two upper storeys so kids can climb up and through and over and really go wild! It is wheelchair accessible from end to end with interactive play elements and experiences along the way. Search for the yellow circles in the maze and press them to ring bells.

SENSORY GARDEN

The Sensory Garden has musical play, inground trampoline and a universal access carousel.

JUNIOR PLAY AREA

This area designed for the little ones has a cup spinner, toddler swing, double rocker, nature play including a water pump and creek and musical play all centered around the swamphen nest and cubby.

SPLASH PAD

Open all year round the Splash Pad is operated by first finding and then pressing three buttons to activate the water for the water cascade, jumping spouts and rain curtains. Turn the white wheel under the pelicans and their beaks fill up with water before cascading down onto you. Conveniently there are outdoor showers alongside the splash pad and you are encouraged to use these both before and after enjoying your splash.

SAND PLAY

The Sand Play area is also built for universal access with features at wheelchair height. This area has a play deck, double slide, climbing net, log climb, timber stilts, a sand transporter, conveyor belts, buckets and pulleys, diggers and play tables as well as water pumps, weirs and a creek. If the kids get covered in wet sand head to the nearby outdoor showers to wash them down.

ACTION PLAY

This area has a bird's nest swing as well as other swings, climbing nets and a double flying fox.

THE PATIO

The Patio is a sheltered space with an inbuilt kitchenette featuring fridge, sink and microwave as well as BBQs and a long table which can seat up to 40 guests. A small hire fee applies.

Otherwise there is plenty of grass to settle on for a picnic or if you are early enough you can grab a sheltered picnic table. BBQs, drink fountains and bins are throughout the park.

Around the park you will see beautiful carved benches with designs that filter the light so pictures appear underneath. Absolutely beautiful and all unique! Art works made by local youth are also scattered around the park and in the trees so you can go on a "treasure" hunt.

The toilet block includes showers, accessible toilets and a fully accessible changing places room with change table and hoist.

Kwinana Adventure Park sits on the edge of Calista Oval a short distance from The Edge Skate Park, one of WA's biggest skate parks.
